1. What Type of Clients Do You Work With?
General Contractors often have specialties, yet the best GC’s will take on any client or challenge. Always make sure to make sure your contractor has the capacity to take on your project.
At RGD Construction we specialize in residential remodeling (kitchens and bathrooms), additions, insurance build back (making you/and your home whole again after loss), and commercial tenant improvements (renovations). Nonetheless, with over 25 years of construction experience, RGD is skillful at using sound judgement and logic to get any type of project done on time and within budget.
2. Can I see your certificate of insurance?
Contractors should have both workers’ compensation and liability insurance specifically for the type of work they perform. Looking at certificates of insurance will give you peace of mind that she’s insured for the job you’re hiring her for.
3. Will you hire subcontractors for the job?
It is not typical for a general contractor to have every type of necessary worker under one roof, especially for projects like building a home from the ground up or remodeling a commercial space.
A general contractor will need to subcontract work out to plumbers, painters, electricians, and other specialists. Ask for the name of every company they will subcontract. Use this information to verify these credentials and ensure they also have the necessary insurance requirements.
4. What does a typical workday look like for your crew?
Organization and preconstruction planning are essential when it comes to successful construction projects. Your contractor should be able to give you an idea of a potential work schedule for the project, such as working hours and general timelines. When discussing schedules, you should also ask how the crew will ensure a safe, secure, and clean working environment. RGD Construction prides itself on safe and clean working environments.
5. Do you Offer free in person estimates?
Yes, we offer one (1) free visit /estimate for your project site, as long as you own the property, or you have an accepted offer to buy and have been pre-qualified by your lender. Any additional estimates/revisions will cost $500 each (paid upfront) to help cover the time and resources involved with estimate/ revisions associated with your project.
6. Do you offer design assistance, or do I need to find one on my own?
If your project requires an architect and/or designer, RGD can connect you with a designer from our design build team, but if you have your own, we’ll happily work with yours as well!
7. Is RGD Construction licensed, insured, and bonded? Will my project follow my local city’s zoning & building laws?
RGD Construction is licensed, insured, and bonded for each city we work in. In addition, we collect liability insurance certificates from any subcontractors and vendors we use on our projects. RGD pulls permits and we have our work inspected by inspectors, as required by the different municipalities RGD works in.
