Dawn Barnes is the Founder and CEO of RGD Construction.
Dawn brings with her a wealth of knowledge, both in the field and behind the scenes, having grown up in the construction industry working with her father and brother, on both residential and commercial projects.
Dawn applied this knowledge and returned to school to obtain her MBA.
While completing her graduate degree, Dawn was fortunate enough to spend some time in the non-profit sector, helping in community growth, organizing several youth programs, and volunteering, as well as leadership programs.
After completing graduate school, Dawn returned to the Construction Industry, and with her field knowledge, business background and a dream, obtained her General Contractor’s License, as well as two additional specialty licenses in the State of Nevada.
RGD Construction is certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women in the US. RGD Construction is also a federal certified Women Owned Small Business (WOSB) and is Certified through the Nevada Unified Certification Program as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and Minority-Owned Business (MBE).
Dawn is a proud member of the Nevada Hispanic Business Group, Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Henderson Alumni Class of 2021, and is on the current board of directors for the National Association of Women In Construction (NAWIC).
I have been a member since 8/1/2019
I am Founder and CEO of RGD Construction. We are a General Contracting/Construction Company that specializes in residential remodeling & additions, commercial tenant improvements, custom millwork, cabinetry, and flooring.
I have served on the Membership Advisory Committee for the Girls Scouts of Southern NV, I was a troop leader for Girl Scouts for 6 years, I am an alumni of Leadership Henderson, I currently serve on the CTOBC committee for RTC and Harry Reid airport, I served as the chair for NAWIC Block Kids, I am currently on the board of directors for NAWIC, I am currently a development committee member for the nonprofit Taking Back the Block (Donna Street Community Center), and I am a current SOT committee member for my daughter’s middle school.
I am not certain if I am qualified for this position or even what makes a person qualified to be a board president.
What I do know is: I take my community commitment seriously and always strive to put my best foot forward. I know that I believe in women supporting one another, I believe in lifting one another up and being cheerleaders for all women, and I believe in doing my part and showing up as a female leader, so that I can be an example for my daughter and all the girls growing into amazing women.
Again, I am not sure what makes me qualified, all I can say is, I will continue to show up for NAWIC and all the amazing women involved in the organization, and I will do my best to represent our chapter.
